About the SSU Alumni

Commonly and fondly called “SSU Alumni”, we are a group of alumni-associations bearing many institutional nomenclatures, spanning more than a century of graduates, from what is now the Samar State University. Starting with the secondary school pioneer alumni of the Samar Trade School (STS, c. 1912), a multitude more became High School, College and Graduate School alumni as graduates of our dear Alma Mater’s new name – the Samar School of Arts and Trades (SSAT, c. 1959). After that came graduates from the Samar State Polytechnic College (SSPC c. 1982); joined by graduates from the Samar Regional School of Fisheries (SRSF now called the Mercedes Campus, c. 1999); and from campuses in Basey town proper, and what was once VCYMAS in Brgy. Dolongan (now the Basey campus). AND, in 2004, our venerable institution was then renamed as the Samar State University, integrating therewith the Wright Vocational School (now the Paranas campus), where/when all graduates started to be called the “SSU Alumni”! Indeed, we are alumni from High School, College and Graduate-level courses, diplomas and degrees obtained from various campuses, bearing many alumni-association names, but, together we support and stand proof when SSU says…

“We Innovate. We Build. We Serve.”!
